New Delhi| The Union Cabinet on Wednesday approved the proposal for ‘One Nation-One Election’. PM Modi’s reaction has come after the cabinet approved the proposal. According to sources, PM Modi said in the cabinet meeting that ‘One Nation-One Election’ has been the demand of the people for a long time. It has been brought keeping in mind the interest of the people, there is no political motive behind it.
Sources said that PM Modi said that an important aspect of ‘One Nation-One Election’ will be to educate the people of the country about the main characteristics of the country. Repeated elections leave governance and most importantly, law and order behind and are not good for any country.
Earlier, PM Modi wrote on social media platform X, “The Cabinet has accepted the recommendations of the High Level Committee on Simultaneous Elections, I congratulate our former President for leading this effort and consulting a wide range of stakeholders.” I congratulate Ramnath Kovind. This is an important step towards making our democracy even more vibrant and participatory. A committee was formed under the chairmanship of former President Ramnath Kovind regarding ‘One Nation-One Election’. The Kovind Committee was formed on 2 September 2023. The committee had prepared an 18,626-page report after 190 days of brainstorming with various political parties and stakeholders. This committee had submitted its report to President Draupadi Murmu on 14 March.
