Skilled Employee’s Crisis: 80 percent of Indian companies not getting employees with skills, the biggest crisis in IT
New Delhi| Despite the demand, 80 percent of the country’s employers are struggling to find employees with skills. This trend has persisted since 2022 and has been above the global average of 74 per cent as of 2024. The ManpowerGroup Talent Shortage Survey claims that Indian employers are taking precautions over recruiting staff with skills in the first quarter of 2025, as a lack of talent is expected to hamper hiring efforts.
According to the survey, no sector is untouched by the shortage of talented employees and this shortage remains a major concern of the global labor market. Industries like IT, energy and utility are feeling the most pressure as the demand for specialized skills like data and IT is continuously increasing. It further notes that only 22 per cent of employers are in favour of extending temporary recruitment. South India is suffering from the highest talent shortage at 85 per cent.
Sandeep Gulati, Managing Director, ManpowerGroup India & Middle East, said, The continued lack of talent and 80 per cent of organizations struggling to fill positions by 2025 underscores the urgent need for collective action. The survey is based on an analysis of data from more than 3,000 employers in four regions of the country.
