The Core Personal Consumption Expenditure (PCE) price index, the Fed’s preferred measure for measuring inflation-is also scheduled to be released Friday.

Sensex stocks including Maruti, Nestle India, Tata Motors, HCL Tech and Tech Mahindra opened with gains, while Power Grid, NTPC, Tata Steel, JSW Steel and Bajaj Finance declined.

Amongst the individual stocks, Ask Automotive fell more than 5% in early trading after there were reports that its promoters could sell up to 6.05% stake in the company via Offer for Sale (OFS) on 27-28 September.
