Reserve Bank Governor Shaktikanta Das received the Central Banker Award

New Delhi| Reserve Bank of India (RBI) Governor Shaktikanta Das has been ranked the top central banker by America’s magazine ‘Global Finance’. This is the second consecutive year that he has been ranked the top central banker globally. “Governor Shaktikanta Das has been awarded ‘A Plus’ in the Central Bank Report Card 2024 for the second consecutive year”, the RBI said in a post shared on social media platform X. Das has been placed at the top of the list of three central bank governors, rated ‘A Plus’. The Global Finance magazine said in a statement that it was rated on a category ‘A’ to ‘F’ scale for success in controlling inflation, economic growth targets, currency stability and interest rate management. Here ‘A’ represents brilliant performance while ‘F’ represents complete failure. Apart from Shaktikanta Das, Denmark’s Christian Kettle Thomson and Switzerland’s Thomas Jordan have also been ranked in the ‘A Plus’ category of central bankers.
Global Finance magazine has also declared State Bank of India (SBI) as India’s best bank for 2024. Global Finance awarded SBI the Best Bank of India award for 2024 at its 31st Annual Best Bank Awards ceremony at the event held on the sidelines of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and World Bank Annual Meetings in Washington. SBI Chairman CS Shetty received the award. The Bank has received this award for its commitment to provide exceptional services and promote financial inclusion across the country by winning the trust of its customers.
