Report: Vegetarian plate made cheaper by 9% as potato-tomato prices decreased, price increased by two percent on an annual basis

New Delhi| Due to the rise in prices of potatoes and pulses, the price of home-cooked thali has become costlier by two per cent on an annual basis in January to Rs 28.70 which was Rs 28 in January, 2024. However, the price has decreased by 9 percent on a monthly basis due to domestic gas and tomatoes becoming cheaper in December.
According to CRISIL’s report released, the price of vegetarian thali in December has been Rs 31.60. However, prices have been continuously decreasing since reaching the top of Rs 33.30 in October. The price of potatoes rose 35 per cent to Rs 31 per kg from Rs 24 on last year’s lower base. Thali prices have been positively impacted by the monthly decline of 34 per cent in tomato prices and 16 per cent and 21 per cent in potato and onion prices respectively due to fresh Rabi arrivals.
Non-vegetarian thali The price of non-vegetarian thali has increased by 17 per cent to Rs 60.6 in January due to the increase in the price of expensive chicken by 17 per cent. In January, 2024, it was Rs 52. It has decreased by four percent on monthly basis. The price in December was Rs 63.30.
