PM Modi congratulated on giving classical language status to five languages

New Delhi| The Union Cabinet on Thursday granted ‘classical language’ status to Marathi, Pali, Prakrit, Assamese and Bengali languages. With this, there will now be 11 classical languages. PM Modi congratulated five languages on being given the status of classical languages.
PM Modi wrote on social media platform X, “Marathi is the pride of India”. Congratulations on giving this language the status of classical language. This honor recognizes the rich cultural contribution of Marathi to the history of our country. Marathi has always been the basis of Indian heritage. I’m sure getting classical language status will inspire even more people to learn it.”

On Assamese language being given the status of classical language, PM Modi wrote on the X post, “I am very happy that after the approval by the Union Cabinet, Assamese will now get the status of classical language”. Assamese culture has been rich for centuries and has given us a rich literary tradition. This language will continue to become even more popular in the times to come. My congratulations.”
Prime Minister Narendra Modi wrote in another X post, “Pali and Prakrit are the core of India’s culture. These are the languages of spirituality, knowledge and philosophy. She is also known for her literary traditions. Their recognition as classical languages respects their timeless influence on Indian thought, culture and history. I am confident that after the Cabinet’s decision to recognize them as classical languages, more people will be inspired to learn about them.”
