People above 70 years of age will to get the benefit of ‘Ayushman Yojana’
New Delhi| The Modi government at the Center has given a big gift to the elderly. It has been decided in the Union Cabinet meeting that all the elderly above 70 years will be given the benefit of ‘Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana’. Health experts have appreciated this decision of the government.
Experts on Thursday described the government’s decision as a welcome step. “We are seeing a historic change in the way the elderly are cared for in the country”, said Abhay Soi, president of Net Health. The elderly are under a great deal of pressure from diseases and are in urgent need of social protection. This decision will further strengthen India’s position in healthcare”
“This package needs to be tailored to the population so that it includes complete care”, Soi said. Net Health is fully prepared to support the government in launching it”
Indraprastha Apollo Hospitals, Hyderabad Dr. Sudhir Kumar praised the decision of the Central Government while sharing a post on X. He wrote, “This is a great step taken by the Government of India to provide health coverage to all people aged 70 years and above”. There are about 90 million people between the ages of 60 and 70. It is expected that before 2029 they can be included in the scheme and health coverage will be provided to every Indian citizen by 2034
According to the decision of the Modi Cabinet, all the elderly above 70 years will be given the benefit of ‘Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana’. All senior citizens aged 70 years and above will get the benefit of this scheme. That is, now the central government has abolished the age limit for this scheme and has decided to provide health facilities up to Rs 5 lakh under Ayushman scheme to every elderly person above 70 years. There will be no age restriction in this i.e. all senior citizens of 70 years and above, irrespective of their socio-economic status, will also be eligible for this scheme.
