‘No tolerance for food adulteration in Uttar Pradesh’- CM Yogi
Lucknow|UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath gave instructions to take strictest action against those who adulterate food items with human waste or dirty items. Taking cognizance of such incidents that have happened in various areas of the country, in a high level meeting on Tuesday, CM Yogi made a thorough investigation, verification of all the related establishments like hotels, dhabas, restaurants etc. of the state as well as the rules while ensuring the health safety of the common people. Instructions were also given to amend it as per requirement.
CM Yogi directed in the meeting that in recent times, incidents of adulteration of human waste and dirty things have been seen in food items like juice, pulses and roti in different areas of the country. Such incidents are gruesome and have adverse effects on the health of the common man. Such evil efforts cannot be accepted at all. He said that concrete arrangements are necessary to ensure the food safety in the state. It is necessary to check such catering establishments like dhabas, restaurants etc. By running a statewide intensive campaign, all the employees working there including the operators of these establishments should be verified. This action should be completed quickly by a joint team of Food Safety and Drug Administration, Police and Local Administration.
He said that the names and addresses of operators, proprietors, managers etc. should be prominently displayed at catering establishments. In this regard, the Food Safety and Standards Act should also be amended as per requirement. There should be provision of CCTV in all catering establishments like dhabas, hotels, restaurants etc. Not only the seating area of the customers but also other parts of the establishment should be covered with CCTV. It should be ensured that every establishment operator will keep the CCTV feed safe and make it available to the police or local administration if required.
CM Yogi said that there should be cleanliness at the food centres. It should be ensured that the concerned person uses masks and gloves while preparing and serving food items. There should not be any kind of negligence in this. The health interests of the common people cannot be played with in any way. Strictest action should be taken against those who make such efforts. The rules related to making, selling or other related activities of food items should be made more strict keeping in mind the practicality. Immediate action should be taken against disobedience of rules.
