‘Negligence will not be tolerated at any level’- CM Yogi in Varanasi

Varanasi|Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, who is on a two-day visit to Kashi, took the incident of roof collapse of Baradari of Balua Ghat seriously. He ordered an investigation to be conducted against the Tourism Department, the executing agency, the contractor and the concerned nodal officer and action should be taken by fixing accountability. On Monday, a meeting was held at the Circuit House regarding development, construction and law and order and instructions were given to the officials.

CM Yogi said that negligence will not be tolerated at any level. Reopen all the domes built at Shastri Ghat and rebuild them. Check the quality of the stones installed on the ghats. The Chief Minister asked to ensure quality by investigating all the works of the executing agency UPPCL. He said that handover should be taken from the concerned department only after completion of all the works under construction. Only then should the projects be inaugurated. CM said that there should be no unnecessary delay in the ropeway project. District Magistrate S Rajalingam said that the construction work of three stations will be completed by December and the work of the remaining stations will be completed by March 2025.

The Chief Minister said that ministers in-charge have been appointed for each district. To solve the problems of the district at the district level, a meeting of the newly appointed minister in-charge and the core group should be organized every month. The Chief Minister asked to provide all basic facilities in the newly included areas and work on the concept of City Forest. CM said to develop drainage model on indigenous method. Get beautification work done under all the flyovers. Parking should be ensured in the basements of buildings.

The Chief Minister said that there should be a permanent solution to the floods. Develop Varuna River Front as model. No sewer or contaminated water should fall into it. During floods, the reverse flow of Ganga should not occur in Varuna River. To ensure availability of water in Varuna, check dams were asked to be built at various places from the entry point of the river. He also asked to plant intensive saplings on both sides of the river and said that Asi and Varuna rivers are the oldest identity of Varanasi. The work of saving their existence has to be done.

CM said that a nodal officer should be nominated to monitor every development work. Get all the works of Har Ghar Nal Yojana completed 100 percent. Resolve complaints received from IGRS, CM Helpline in quality and timely manner. He said that action will be taken against this. CM Yogi said that overloaded trucks and vehicles should be stopped at zero point only. Take action against them. Make tourist policing effective. Increase foot patrolling in view of security. Make arrangements to keep the fire extinguishers installed in hotels, shops, establishments etc. updated. Ensure regular meetings and communication with groups like seafarers, street vendors, traders etc.

In the meeting, the DM gave information about various under construction projects of departments like education, health and public works etc. in the city to the Chief Minister through projectors. Police Commissioner Mohit Aggarwal informed the Chief Minister about law and order.

In the Chief Minister’s meeting, Cabinet Minister Anil Rajbhar, Minister of State Ravindra Jaiswal, Minister of State Dr. Dayashankar Mishra, District Panchayat President Poonam Maurya, MLC Hansraj Vishwakarma, MLA Dr. Neelkanth Tiwari, Saurabh Srivastava, Dr. Many officers including Awadhesh Singh, T Ram, Commissioner Kaushal Raj Sharma, ADG Zone Piyush Mordia were present.

CM Yogi at late night inspected the progress of widening of Kachari-Ashapur Sandaha road, redevelopment project of Sarnath Pro-Poor and Sarang Nath Mahadev Temple. During this, the executing agencies and engineers were instructed to complete the work on time as per the standards. Said that along with quality, safety standards should be taken full care of in construction works. Laxity will not be tolerated at any level.
