Another businessman Shubhas Mehta says that due to online, wholesale and retail business has been greatly affected. Shopping for Diwali and Dhanteras has shrunk only on a small scale. People come to shop for small utensils for puja. Apart from this there is no shopping. Last year, festivals, including weddings, had 40 to 45 percent of sales, which has dropped to 25 percent this year.
Traders say that apart from steel, there is demand for bronze, copper and silver utensils on Dhanteras and weddings. Apart from this, the demand for glass and ceramic utensils has also increased in the last few years. From dinner sets to big sets given to the daughter, many types of offers are available in the wholesale market for weddings, but the buyers are very less in the market. Talking about the prices of steel utensils, the price of Rs 400 to Rs 500 per fort, aluminum at Rs 400 to Rs 500 per kg, bronze at Rs 1500 to Rs 1600 per kg and copper at around Rs 1300 to Rs 1500 per kg. At the same time, the price of silver is running at Rs 96,552 per kg.
