India’s iron ore production rose 7.4% to 116 million tones in April-August, government released figures

New Delhi| The production of iron ore and manganese ore increased during the April-August period of the current financial year. According to the data released by the Ministry of Mines, iron ore production increased by 7.4 percent to 116 million tones or 116 million tones during the said period. In the same period of the previous financial year, 108 million tones (108 million tones) were produced.
Manganese ore production increased by 15.4 per cent to 1.5 metric tones during the April-August period, compared to 1.3 metric tones in the previous fiscal year, the ministry said in a statement. Iron ore accounts for about 70 per cent of the total production of the mineral in value terms.
Primary aluminum production in the non-ferrous metals sector increased to 17.49 lakh tones during April-August, from 17.26 lakh tonnes in the same period a year ago. “During the said period, refined copper production has increased by 5.8 percent from 1.91 LT to 2.02 LT”, the ministry said
India is the world’s second largest producer of aluminum, one of the top 10 producers of refined copper and the world’s fourth largest iron ore producer. The continued growth in iron ore production in the current financial year reflects strong demand conditions in user industries, mainly steel. The statement issued by the government said that with the increase in aluminum and copper, these figures indicate continued strong economic activity in sectors such as energy, infrastructure, construction, automotive and machinery.
