India reaches 39th position in ‘Global Innovation Index 2024’, Piyush Goyal expresses gratitude

New Delhi| India reached 39th position among 133 economies of the world in the ‘Global Innovation Index 2024’. Union Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal expressed happiness over this achievement of the country at the global level.
He wrote on social media platform X, “India has reached 39th position among 133 global economies in the Global Innovation Index 2024”. India has achieved this remarkable achievement under the guidance and decisive leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. India ranks first among the 10 economies of Central and South Asia. At the same time, it also ranks first among lower-middle income economies. The country’s innovation landscape continues to thrive, driven by our innovators and entrepreneurs. India has climbed one place to 39th in the Global Innovation Index (GII) 2024 ranking. Last year she was placed 40th.
The report said that India remains on top in Central and South Asia. Iran is in second place (overall 64 places) in this group. After that is Kazakhstan (overall 78th). Uzbekistan (83rd) continues to retain its fourth position in the region. According to the report, India also leads the lower middle income group. He holds the record for performing better in terms of innovation for the 14th consecutive year.
According to WIPO’s Global Innovation Index (GII) 2024, Switzerland, Sweden, the US, Singapore and the UK are in the world top five respectively, while China, Turkey, India, Vietnam and the Philippines are the fastest-moving countries in the ranking in 10 years
GII is the world’s standard ranking in terms of innovation. It also provides guidance in improving the lives of policy makers, business leaders and others and harnessing human talent to address shared challenges such as climate change.
