Lucknow| Yogi government is continuously making efforts to bring positive changes in the lives of poor and deprived children by providing them quality education. In this direction, the number of children benefited under the campaign to provide free education is continuously increasing.

1,14,196 children have been enrolled under the scheme in the session 2024-25 against 71,214 children in the academic session 2022-23, which is a big jump compared to previous years. Additionally, more than 5 lakh children across the state are currently receiving education in private schools. For this achievement, Yogi government has promoted investment in children’s education. Fee reimbursement of Rs 436 crore has been paid in the last two financial years, thereby assisting schools to admit these children without any hindrance.

This step of Yogi government is not only connecting poor and disadvantaged children into the mainstream of education, but is also contributing in shaping their future. It is clear from the effective implementation and continuous improvement of the scheme that the government is fully committed to providing the right to education to the children of the deprived sections of the state.

The UP government is making every possible effort with the aim of providing quality education to poor children. This scheme of RTE Act was expanded in the year 2017 as soon as it came into government. To bring transparency in the process, an online portal was launched by NIC (National Informatics Centre), making the enrollment process digital and more effective. After this, from the session 2020-21, the scheme also expanded to rural areas, ensuring that more and more children from all over the state get its benefits. As a result, parents are now applying online in their nearest schools and taking more benefits of this scheme.

There were 71,214 children enrolled in the academic session 2022-23, which increased to 1,14,196 in 2024-25. Also, more than 5 lakh children in the state are now studying in private schools. For this success the government increased investment in children’s education and has paid fee reimbursement of Rs 436 crore in the last two financial years alone, so that schools are now giving uninterrupted admission to such children.

Sandeep Singh, Minister of State for Basic Education, Yogi Government informed that to ensure timely enrollment of children under RTE, the application process has been determined in 4 phases for the session 2025-26, which will continue from 1st December, 1st January, 1st February and 1st March respectively till 19th of that month. Lottery and nomination dates are fixed for each stage, this should not cause any delay in the application process. Keeping in mind the convenience of parents during application, there is a provision of helpdesks in various districts. Awareness and application process is being encouraged in rural areas with the help of NSS and NCC volunteers.

He said that the district administration is also cooperating, due to which the enrollment process is being simplified by providing the facility of necessary documents like income certificate, caste certificate, residence certificate.
