E-commerce companies in preparation for festivals, online sales expected to reach $12 billion this season

New Delhi| The festive season is starting, for which companies have started their preparations. In which e-commerce companies have increased their stocks, made new recruitments and strengthened the delivery chain. In which Amazon, Flipkart, Misho, Myntra and KillerTrip have completed all their preparations in this regard. In these preparations, Flipkart opened 11 fulfillment centers for the festive season with infrastructure investment and will create more than 1 lakh jobs in more than 40 sectors. Amazon India has claimed that it has made 110,000 temporary recruitments in its operating network for this festive season in which goods can be supplied to millions of customers on time. The festive season sales of e-corms companies are starting from September 27. Online sales are expected to reach $12 billion in the festive season this year, up 23 percent from $9.7 billion last year, according to a report by market research firm Datum Intelligence.

For the festive season we have opened 11 Fulfillment Centers and created 1 lakh new employment opportunities in more than 40 sectors. We are further strengthening the technology, in which all the work including route planning can be done easily. In which we can make fast delivery on 19000 pin code. Also, in many cities, same day order i.e. delivery on the day of order and next day delivery services are being expanded. We will focus on skill development and providing more business to MSME sectors especially during the festive season to further empower them.

Abhinav Singh, Vice President (Operations), Amazon India, said that this festive season the company wants to provide fast services in every corner of the country. To make this easier, we have recruited 1.1 additional people. In which there are more people who keep working with Amazon even after the festive season is over. These direct and indirect employment opportunities are available in cities like Mumbai, Delhi, Pune, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Kolkata, Lakhanmau and Chennai. Also Amazon has hired 1,900 disabled people along with thousands of female employees. Flipkart’s travel company Cleartrip has also announced the biggest travel sale to make these festivals special, which will run from 27 September to 6 October 2024. In this, consumers of Flipkart and Myntra can get an additional discount of up to 15 percent on hotels. Anuj Rathi, Chief Business and Growth Officer, Cleartrip, says that we are seeing a big change among Indian consumers in terms of traveling and having fun. This festive season, we are giving great deals to the consumers regarding travel on hotels, flights, buses and holiday packages, in which they will be able to take advantage of this opportunity and enjoy the holidays on festivals.

Grocery and beauty and personal care are likely to increase, with online grocery sales estimated at 51 percent compared to 37.6 percent last year, according to the report. Along with this, the trend of increasing sales of laptops, mobiles and apparel has been seen in every festive season. E-commerce is expected to buy more on smartphones and large consumer durables and fashion during the festive season. Festivals account for 29.9 per cent of mobile, fashion 19.6 per cent, electronic and consumer durable products 17.5 per cent of the festive season.
