Big relief to Arvind Kejriwal, Supreme Court grants bail in CBI case
New Delhi| The Supreme Court’s decision on the bail plea of Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal in the CBI case has come on Friday. The court on Friday gave a big relief to Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal. The bench of Justice Surya Kant and Ujjwal Bhuiyan has granted bail to Kejriwal. The court has granted bail to Kejriwal in the CBI case. Kejriwal has already got bail in the ED case and CM Kejriwal was in jail in the CBI case, the decision on which is announced.
The bench of Justice Surya Kant and Justice Ujjal Bhuiyan will give its verdict on two petitions of Kejriwal. The verdict was about to come on the bail petition filed in the first CBI case and the petitions challenging the second arrest. A previous hearing was held in the case on 5 September, in which a bench of Justice Surya Kant and Justice Ujjal Bhuiyan had reserved its decision after hearing the arguments of all the parties. The court had indicated to give relief to Kejriwal. However, the court had also said that it would give its verdict only after hearing both the sides.
Kejriwal’s lawyer Abhishek Manu Singhvi had said that Kejriwal should get regular bail because he was arrested deliberately. Earlier his name was not even in the CBI FIR. Later his name was added to the FIR. Kejriwal is being prevented from participating in political activities. In such a situation, the arrest made by CBI against Kejriwal is not correct. His arrest has been made on the basis of only one testimony. Non arrest was converted into a case of arrest. Notice was not even given before re-arrest.
CBI said that Kejriwal is the main accused in the liquor scam. There is evidence against him. Kejriwal is playing the game of snakes and ladders. The petition challenging the arrest of CBI is not correct. No constitutional rights have been violated. On the basis of investigation, the magistrate had approved the arrest. Kejriwal was arrested by ED on 21 March, since then he has been in jail. However, before the Lok Sabha elections, he got bail for three weeks to campaign.
