Bangladesh: Nobel laureate Mohammad Yunus becomes the head of interim government
Dhaka: The situation is changing rapidly in India’s neighboring country Nepal. Bangladesh President Mohammad Shahabuddin has appointed Nobel laureate Mohammad Yunus as the head of the interim government of Bangladesh. The President’s Press Secretary has given this information. This decision was taken in a meeting held between President Shahabuddin and coordinators of the ‘student movement’. The chiefs of the three armed forces were also present in this meeting. The Press Secretary said that the names of other members of the interim government will be decided after discussions with various political parties.
The death toll from antigovernmental protests in Bangladesh rose to 440 on Tuesday. More than 100 people have died in incidents of violence that followed Sheikh Hasina’s resignation as prime minister on Monday.
