Trade War: ‘Oppose together US policy of unilateral pressure’, China tells EU after imposing 125% tariff on US
New Delhi| Chinese President Xi Jinping urged the European Union (EU) to jointly oppose America’s policy of unilateral pressure. The trade war between China and America has intensified. China imposed a 125 percent tariff on US goods. This step has been taken by China in response to the 145 percent tariff imposed by the US.
The Chinese Foreign Ministry said that it is ready for talks, but it should be based on equality and mutual respect. The ministry also said, if America increases tariffs further, China will now ignore it.
At the same time, China’s Custom Tariff Commission said in a statement, America increasing tariffs now will become a joke in the economic history of the world. It has now become difficult for China to buy American goods at such a high tax. But if the US seriously harms China’s economic interests, China will also respond vigorously and fight to the end.
What Chinese President Jinping said
President Jinping said during his meeting with Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez, there is no winner in the tariff fight. The country which goes against the whole world will itself be left alone. He said, both China and the European Union are supporters of global trade and free trade. Together we will protect international rules and order.
Jinping will visit tariff affected countries
In view of the increasing pressure from America, China has now started a strategy to garner world support. President Xi will visit Vietnam, Malaysia and Cambodia next week. These countries have also been affected by US tariffs. Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi held an important meeting with Chinese ambassadors around the world, in which he decided China’s strategic priorities in the current situation.
China will respond with full force: Lin Jian
Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Lin Jian said, if America wants to talk with a true heart, it will have to give up its policy of exerting more pressure. Negotiations should be on equality, mutual respect and profit. He also said, if America escalates the tariff war further, China will respond with full force. Bowing to America’s bullying and coercion is no longer an option.
History cannot be taken back: Wang Yi
Foreign Minister Wang Yi said during his meeting with International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) chief Rafael Grossi, America cannot act arbitrarily. History cannot be taken back. He said, America is ignoring the international trade system and rules only for its own benefit.
Wang said that China will not only protect its rights, but will also stand to protect the interests of the entire world, so that the world does not return to the law of the jungle, where the powerful are right. He also said that China will take the 80th anniversary of the United Nations as an opportunity to protect the international order and rules and regulations.
