PM Narendra Modi awarded with Guyana’s highest civilian honor ‘Order of Excellence’
New Delhi| Guyanese President Dr. Mohammad Irfan Ali honored Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi with the country’s highest civilian honor ‘The Order of Excellence’. PM Narendra Modi is the fourth foreign leader to be honored with Guyana’s highest national award.
“Another achievement for India”, External Affairs Ministry (MEA) spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said in a post on X! Guyanese President Dr. Mohammad Irfan Ali honored Prime Minister Narendra Modi with the country’s highest national award ‘The Order of Excellence’ for his exceptional service to the global community, statesmanship and contribution in deepening India-Guyana relations.
On this occasion, President Irfan said that technology, innovation and digitalization should not be used to increase the distance between countries. These advances must be used to reduce distance and poverty and to bring the world closer together.
PM Narendra Modi thanked the President of Guyana for ‘The Order of Excellence’ honour. “President Dr. for conferring on me Guyana’s highest honour, ‘The Order of Excellence'”, he said. Heartfelt thanks to Irfan Ali. This honor is not only my honor but the honor of the 140 million people of India.
PM Modi said, “President Irfan Ali contributed a lot in taking these relations to unprecedented heights”. In today’s discussions I felt his affection and respect for the people of India. India is also ready to stand shoulder to shoulder with Guyana in every field. As two democracies, our cooperation is important not just for bilateral relations but for the entire Global South.
“Guyana, rich in many rivers, waterfalls and lakes, is called the ‘land of many waters'”, he said. Just as the rivers of Guyana are a part of the cultural identity of the people here, similarly the great rivers of India like Ganga, Yamuna and Brahmaputra have been the birthplace of our ancient civilization. There are many examples of similarities between India and Guyana that deepen our historical ties even further.
