New Delhi| Indian families have earned a trillion dollars from the stock market in the last 10 years. According to Morgan Stanley, the family invests only three percent of its ledger in equity. During this time, families have added assets worth $8.5 trillion. The stock market accounts for about 11 per cent of this.

Indian families have earned $9.7 trillion if founders are included, Morgan Stanley said. Equity also accounts for 20 per cent or two trillion dollars. Morgan Stanley’s Ridham Desai said rivers invest less in equities. This number may increase by two points in the coming years. In 10 years, the market capital of listed companies has increased from $1.2 trillion to $5.4 trillion.

Morgan Stanley says Indian households still invest less in equities than other asset classes. However, the equity share may increase in the coming years. Equity investment has picked up in the last decade. During this period, the share of gold in the added properties of families has been 22 percent.
