Yogi government engaged in creating a safe and sensitive environment for destitute children

Lucknow| Under the leadership of Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, the Women Welfare Department has taken a new and important initiative for the all-round development and safety of children. Under this initiative, 10 new child protection homes will be constructed and operated in various districts of the state. The objective of these protection homes is to provide safe and healthy environment to the children, where they can develop as good citizens.
According to this scheme proposed by the Women Welfare Department, these conservation homes will be established in Mathura, Prayagraj, Kanpur Nagar, Azamgarh, Jhansi, Amethi, Faizabad, Deoria, Sultanpur and Lalitpur of the state. Every protection home will have the capacity to accommodate 100 children each, benefiting as many children as possible. These include 1 State Children’s Home (Girls), 1 State Children’s Home (Children), 7 State Communication Homes (Juvenile), 1 Place of Safety Home including Juvenile Justice Board. In these protection homes, children will not only be provided living facilities, but their physical, mental and emotional development will also be taken care of.
According to Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, the Women and Child Development Department is trying to connect the helpless and sensitive children with the mainstream of the society by giving them a new life with the establishment of these protection homes. In these homes, children will be provided facilities like education, health care, mental health support and life skills in a protected environment.
Under this scheme, the state government has also earmarked necessary funds for the construction of child protection homes. Yogi government will construct all the houses from its budget. At the same time, the operation of these houses will cost the state government Rs 7.96 crore as per the central share-60 percent and state share-40 percent of the provisions of Mission Vatsalya Yojana by the central government.
Along with this, a budget provision of Rs 100 crore has been made in the financial year 2024-25 under ‘Mukhyamantri Bal Ashray Yojana’. For the successful operation of the scheme, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has also ensured that these houses will be constructed and managed as per quality standards. For this, the government has also selected consultants through tender process, so that the highest level of services provided in these child protection homes can be ensured.
