Biz Updates: Number of new members in EPFO up 9.07%

New Delhi| On Diwali, a one-hour special Muhurat business will be organized on BSE and NSE on November 1. This will mark the beginning of the new Samvat 2081. Stock markets said in separate circulars, Muhurat trading will take place between 6 to 7 pm. The pre-opening session i.e. the session before the market opens will be from 5:45 to 6:00 pm. It is believed that investors get profit from Muhurta business throughout the year.

The number of new members of the Employees Provident Fund Organization (EPFO) increased by 9.07 per cent year-on-year to 18.53 lakh in August, 2024. During this period, about 9.30 lakh new members joined EPFO. This figure is 0.48 per cent higher than the same period a year ago.

According to payroll data released by the Labor Ministry on Sunday, the highest number of 8.06 lakh new members in the 18-25 age group joined EPFO in August. This is 59.26 per cent of the total new members added.
