Prayagraj| Uttar Pradesh government and railway administration have made plans on a large scale for the preparations of ‘Mahakumbh-2025’, so that the devotees do not face any kind of inconvenience and this historic event can be made successful. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath is continuously monitoring the preparations for Mahakumbh. To ensure that lakhs of devotees coming to Mahakumbh experience easy, safe and convenient travel, work is being done rapidly on many important projects, which especially include expansion in rail traffic and station facilities.

For the successful organization of ‘Mahakumbh-2025’, the state government and the railway administration under the leadership of Chief Minister Yogi are together making extensive preparations. Along with expansion in the capacity and facilities of Prayagraj’s railway stations, operation of special trains, arrangement of footpaths and emergency plans will ensure that the journey of lakhs of devotees coming to Mahakumbh is safe and convenient.

In view of the huge crowd of devotees during Mahakumbh, the facility and capacity of 9 major railway stations of Prayagraj is being expanded. A comprehensive plan has been prepared to operate fair special trains at Prayagraj Junction, Subedarganj Junction, Naini Junction, Chhivki Junction, Rambagh Junction, Jhunsi Junction, Phaphamau Junction, Prayag Junction and Prayagghat Junction. Renovation and development work is progressing rapidly at these stations.

Yards are being renovated at Prayagraj station and Subedarganj station. Two additional platforms are being constructed at Subedarganj and one additional platform at Jhunsi station. Along with this, a new platform is being built at Prayag station. Construction and improvement work of washing lines of these stations is also going on so that there is no problem in cleaning and maintenance of trains.

Under North Central Railway, trains will operate through Delhi, Kanpur, Mumbai, Jhansi, Satna, Banda and Manikpur routes. For North Eastern Railway, fair special trains will be run at Rambagh and Jhunsi stations via Bihar, Mughalsarai and Varanasi routes. Under Northern Railway, special trains will operate at Phaphamau, Prayag, and Prayagghat stations on Gorakhpur, Faizabad, Lucknow and Unchahar routes.

To ensure that the devotees coming to Mahakumbh do not face any problem in reaching the fair area, a single-way plan has been prepared for the foot route from the railway station to the fair area. This arrangement will ensure that devotees can enter the fair area without any hindrance. This will avoid crowding and chaos.

The railway administration has prepared 6 special plans for crowd management and emergency handling. Under these schemes, 90 holding areas have been identified to accommodate devotees when there is overcrowding at railway stations. In case of emergency, devotees can be stopped in these holding areas, so that the crowd pressure at the station remains less and the journey becomes easier.

The main objective of these emergency plans is to keep the devotees safe in any unexpected situation and they do not have to face any kind of problem. Also, the district administration, police, and fair organizing team will jointly implement these schemes.

Railways has set up a special control room at Prayagraj Junction, from where the entire fair area and railway stations will be monitored. This control room will keep an eye on the activities of all the stations and will do coordination work, so that any problem can be resolved immediately.

Through this control room, the timetable, crowd management and security arrangements of trains coming and going to the station will be monitored. On the instructions of Chief Minister Yogi, it is being ensured that all the arrangements operate smoothly and the devotees do not have to face any kind of inconvenience.

Keeping in mind Mahakumbh-2025, Prayagraj Junction is being rejuvenated under the Greater Station Development Scheme and Phaphamau and Prayag Junction under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme. The construction work of these stations will be completed by October, so that the stations are fully developed and ready at the time of Mahakumbh.

Under this, passenger facilities at stations will be increased, which includes expansion of waiting rooms, ticket counters, platforms, washing lines and sanitation facilities. Special arrangements are also being made to handle the number of passengers at these stations.
