On the situation in Myanmar, PM Modi also supported the ASEAN approach and said that India is in favor of talks with Myanmar instead of separating it. He said that we understand the need to take necessary steps to maintain humanitarian assistance and restore democracy. Referring to global conflicts, PM Modi said that their most negative impact is on the countries of the Global South and everyone needs restoration of peace and stability. He made it clear that the era of war is over and the problems will not be solved from the battlefield.

Describing terrorism as a serious challenge to global peace and security, PM Modi appealed for the unity of forces that believe in humanity. He also stressed the need to promote mutual cooperation in the areas of cyber, maritime and space. Inaugurating the new campus of Nalanda University, the Prime Minister said that this is an example of India’s commitment given at the East Asia Summit.
