Government to help Dalit student Atul Kumar to study in IIT Dhanbad

Lucknow| Now the state government has come forward to help Dalit student Atul Kumar, resident of Muzaffarnagar, Uttar Pradesh, to get admission in IIT Dhanbad. Under the scholarship scheme of the state, the Social Welfare Department will bear the entire fees charged in IIT through scholarship, so that Atul’s education can be ensured. Rajendra Kumar, a resident of Titoda village of Khatauli tehsil of Muzaffarnagar district, is a daily wage labourer, his son Atul Kumar’s admission in IIT Dhanbad was stopped due to non-payment of admission fees.

Atul performed well in the IIT-JEE exam and got a seat in the Electronics Engineering branch, but by 24 June, admission got stuck due to not being able to deposit the fees. The family moved the Supreme Court after making all efforts. After the intervention of the Supreme Court and the matter coming to the notice of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, the government decided to provide full help to the student.

The Chief Minister immediately gave instructions and asked to ensure all possible assistance for Atul. Social Welfare Minister Aseem Arun spoke to the student’s family on phone and assured that the state government will provide financial assistance for the student’s entire education.

At the same time, Yogi government has also contacted IIT Dhanbad and taken necessary steps to complete the admission process. Under the initiative of Uttar Pradesh Government, not only the initial fees of student Atul will be deposited, but the fees charged during the entire four years of studies will also be paid through scholarship.
