The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a yellow alert for Delhi-NCR on Friday, forecasting thunderstorms accompanied by gusty winds and light to moderate rainfall across the region.

According to the IMD, the weather activity is likely to impact road traffic, outdoor activities and daily routines. However, it is also expected to bring relief from the prevailing heat conditions, with temperatures likely to remain below recent highs.

The maximum temperature in Delhi-NCR on Friday is forecast at around 37 degrees Celsius, while the minimum temperature is expected to settle near 26 degrees Celsius.

The IMD has predicted thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and very light to light rainfall during the morning, forenoon and night hours. It has warned that strong winds could uproot trees, damage weak structures and disrupt traffic movement. Residents have been advised to avoid open areas and refrain from taking shelter under trees during adverse weather conditions.

Similar weather conditions are expected to continue on June 6, with thunderstorms and rainfall likely in parts of the region. The maximum temperature is forecast at 36 degrees Celsius and the minimum at 26 degrees Celsius. No weather warning has been issued for the day.

Weather conditions are expected to improve from June 7 onwards. The sky is likely to remain mainly clear, with the maximum temperature rising to around 39 degrees Celsius and the minimum temperature settling at 27 degrees Celsius.

On June 8, the maximum temperature is expected to touch 40 degrees Celsius, while the minimum temperature is likely to be 28 degrees Celsius. The weather is forecast to remain clear and no warning has been issued.

The IMD has also forecast mainly clear skies on June 9 and June 10. Maximum temperatures are expected to reach around 41 degrees Celsius, while minimum temperatures are likely to remain near 28 degrees Celsius on both days.

The department said the anticipated thunderstorms, strong winds and rainfall over the next two days could provide much-needed relief from the intense summer heat. It has advised residents to stay updated with the latest weather advisories as conditions evolve.
