Indian airlines to resume Doha flights from May 1 amid fragile US-Iran ceasefire
India’s leading carriers are set to resume full-scale operations at Hamad International Airport in Doha from May 1, the Embassy of India in Doha said on Thursday.
Three Indian airlines — Air India, Air India Express and IndiGo — are expected to restart services, reconnecting Doha with major Indian cities and regional hubs.
The resumption follows a period of disruption triggered by joint U.S.-Israeli military strikes on February 28 against Iranian leadership and nuclear facilities, which escalated into a wider regional conflict and disrupted aviation operations across West Asia.
Qatari airspace had remained largely closed to commercial traffic for nearly two months, with Hamad International Airport handling only limited emergency and evacuation flights since early March.
The Embassy said the move is part of coordinated efforts by global aviation authorities to stabilise flight operations in the region, adding that schedules remain subject to change due to the evolving security situation.
Passengers have been advised to stay in contact with airlines for real-time updates on schedules, terminals and bookings.
A fragile ceasefire, brokered in Islamabad in mid-April and recently extended by Donald Trump, has opened a window for the gradual return of international flights, with insurers beginning to clear operations in the region.
