Amit Shah visits New Delhi World Book Fair, highlights role of books and patriotism
Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Friday visited the New Delhi World Book Fair at Bharat Mandapam, where he underscored the enduring importance of books as a source of knowledge and inspiration, particularly for the younger generation.
During his visit, Shah toured several thematic pavilions, including the Vande Mataram Pavilion, the Operation Sindoor Pavilion, and an exhibition highlighting the life and contributions of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel. He also interacted with children and distributed copies of Bankim Chandra Chattopadhyay’s iconic novel Anand Math, describing the book as a powerful source of inspiration from India’s freedom struggle.
In a series of posts on X, the Home Minister said that books remain the best medium to acquire knowledge, regardless of age. Expressing concern over the declining habit of reading, he said that both digital and print books continue to play a vital role in shaping minds and broadening perspectives.
Referring to Anand Math, Shah said the literary classic had inspired millions of Indians to participate in the freedom movement and resist British rule. By gifting the book to children, he said, the aim was to ignite their minds with the ideals and dreams of the nation’s freedom fighters.

At the Vande Mataram Pavilion, Shah noted that the exhibition showcased the glorious journey of India’s national song, which stirred deep patriotic fervour among freedom fighters. He said the pavilion, organised as the nation marks 150 years of Vande Mataram, reflects the song’s historic role in uniting people against colonial rule.
The Home Minister also visited the exhibition dedicated to Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel and said that commemorating the 150th birth anniversary of the Iron Man of India is an effort by the Modi government to familiarise the new generation with his monumental contribution to national unity. He said the exhibition would further strengthen the resolve of youth to safeguard the country’s unity and integrity.
At the Operation Sindoor Pavilion, Shah said the operation stood as a testament to India’s military strength, driven by Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s resolute political will, the armed forces’ decisive striking capability, and precise intelligence. He said the pavilion serves as a source of inspiration for young people, instilling a sense of patriotism and commitment to the nation.
