20 coaches of Sabarmati Express derailed in Kanpur, helpline numbers issued

A train accident occurred late Friday night in Kanpur district of Uttar Pradesh. 20 coaches of Sabarmati Express derailed in the block section between Kanpur and Bhimsen station. According to the sources, none was injured in the accident. Railway officials who reached the spot said that several coaches of the train derailed on the holding line ahead of Govind Puri near Kanpur. This train was going from Varanasi to Ahmedabad. The accident happened at around 3 am. At present, all the passengers of Sabarmati Express train have been brought to Kanpur by boarding a bus from the accident site.

According to the information received so far, no passenger has been injured in this accident. The rescue and relief work is under progress at the accident site.

Some trains on this route have been canceled after the train accident near Kanpur. Besides, the routes of some trains have also been diverted. Giving information, Railways said that 6 trains have been cancelled. The route of 3 trains has been diverted.

Regarding the train accident in Kanpur, Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav tweeted on X that ‘the engine of Sabarmati Express (Varanasi to Ahmedabad) derailed at 02:35 pm after colliding with an object kept on the track near Kanpur. Marks of strong tremors have been seen in the train. IB and UP Police are working on this. There were no injuries to the passengers or railway employees traveling in the train. Train arrangements have been made for the passengers to travel further to Ahmedabad.’
