Yogi government to honor contributors to the silk industry

Lucknow| Pandit Deendayal Upadhyay Resham Ratna Award will be given by the state government to those who have made extraordinary contributions in sericulture and related fields. This honor will be given by the Silk Department in 8 categories. Its objective is to encourage innovation, production and designing in the silk industry.

With an aim to promote the silk sector, this honor will be given to those individuals who have done better work in categories like cocoon production, innovation in silk finish products, best designing in silk made apparel and other products and lifetime achievement.

Khadi and Village Industries, Silk Industry, Handloom and Textile Industry Minister of Uttar Pradesh Government, Rakesh Sachan said that silk industry plays an important role in the economy of the state. The objective of this honor is to encourage those artisans and entrepreneurs of the state who are continuously improving and innovating in the silk industry. A cash amount of Rs 50,000 will be given as first prize in every category and a sum of Rs 25,000 as second prize. Also, the winners will be honored with citations and insignia.

“Silk Mitra” magazine related to silk industry will also be released in the program. Along with this, Resham Mitra Portal will be launched, which will provide a unique platform of knowledge and resources for individuals associated with sericulture and trade.
The application process for the honor has started and the deadline for applications has been set for October 10, 2024. Application forms are available on the department’s website and Resham Mitra portal. Interested participants can send their application forms to Directorate of Silk, Vishwas Block-3, Gomtinagar, Lucknow.
