Yogi government approves 21 investment proposals of UPNEDA worth Rs 736 crore

Lucknow| Yogi government is encouraging biological energy in Uttar Pradesh. Investment proposals related to this are being continuously approved. In this sequence, 21 projects of the New and Renewable Department got the approval of the state level committee. Thus a total of 53 bio energy related projects have been approved by the state government, with a total investment cost of Rs 2,525 crore.

UPNEDA had received investment proposals worth about Rs 7 lakh crore in the new and renewable energy sector. Out of this, investment proposals worth about 57 thousand crore belong to the bio energy sector under the Uttar Pradesh State Bio Energy Policy-2022. In this sequence, UPNEDA has given in-principle approval to 198 proposals for setting up plants of compressed biogas, bio diesel and biocol.

The committee constituted under the chairmanship of Principal Secretary Additional Energy Sources Department approved 21 proposals. In the meeting, approval was given after completion of all the proceedings related to land, bank loan, availability of feed stock and offtake etc. for the projects. Establishment of production plants of compressed biogas, bio pellet and bio diesel will be ensured in these 21 projects worth Rs 736.80 crore.

Among these, maximum 16 projects worth Rs 722.68 crore are associated with CBG. Similarly, two projects worth 9.22 crore relate to biodiesel and 3 projects worth 4.90 crore to Biocol. It is known that Uttar Pradesh ranks first in the country in the production of CBG with a production capacity of 210 tonnes per day.
These 21 projects will generate production of 110 tonnes of CBG, 92 tonnes of bio pellets and 100 kilo litres of biodiesel per day. It was informed in the meeting that the investors have ensured availability of necessary land and adequate biomass on the spot for setting up the plant’s production plants. Approval for funding has also been obtained from various banks. Contracts have also been signed with various institutions for the upcoming sale of products produced from these plants.
