New Delhi: The drops of water falling from the sky during rain are often considered nothing short of nectar, offering numerous health benefits. These drops are not only uplifting for the soul but also refreshing for the body. Health experts refer to this rainwater as “elixir from the sky.” It’s important not only to know about its countless benefits — but also to experience them by getting drenched!

Acharya Manish, an Ayurveda practitioner and health expert, explains not just the advantages of bathing in the rain, but also why it’s essential.

In a video shared on Facebook, he said,
“Bathing in the rain brings many benefits and is very good for our health. Many people in our country suffer from kidney cysts. Let me explain it in simple terms — these cysts are a result of excessive body heat. When we were children, our elders would often encourage us to bathe in the rain so that the body heat would be released.”

He added that in today’s time, misinformation has spread suggesting that getting wet in the rain is harmful — but that’s not true. “We’ve made rain our enemy. Bathing in rainwater helps release heat from the body and provides relief from boils and skin eruptions. So, go out in the rain, bathe yourself, and let your children do the same. When excess body heat is expelled, the risk of kidney failure, heart attacks, brain strokes, and high blood pressure also decreases.”

According to Ayurveda, bathing in the rain offers remarkable health benefits. It refreshes both body and mind while also cleansing the skin of dirt and pollutants.

Research also supports that rainwater can help prevent heat-related issues. Due to its lower pH level, rainwater is light and gentle. Bathing in it triggers the release of endorphins and serotonin — hormones responsible for happiness and pleasure — which is especially beneficial in today’s stress-filled world. This not only uplifts the mood but also strengthens the immune system, helping the body fight infections more effectively.

Dermatologists have also stated that rainwater bathing can relieve skin issues like rashes, irritation, or allergies. Its cool temperature is ideal for healthy blood circulation.

However, experts advise caution for certain individuals. People suffering from fever, cold, or those with sensitive skin are advised to avoid bathing in the first rain, as it may not be suitable for their health condition.
