WEF 2025 Davos: Ashwini Vaishnav meets delegation of Swiss Federal Railways in Davos

New Delhi| Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnav met the delegation of Swiss Federal Railways (SBB) during the World Economic Forum (WEF) meetings in Davos. The Railway Minister told about this in a post on social media platform X. “The Swiss Federal Railways (SBB) delegation was met and detailed discussions were held on safety technologies and maintenance practices”, the Union minister said in his ex post The minister also visited Stadler Rail’s rail coach manufacturing plant and St. Margrethen, Switzerland. Among other developments, India has secured major investment proposals in Davos with eight participating states.

At the WEF, Chirag Paswan, Union Minister for Food Processing Industries, reported that Belgian company AB InBev has agreed to invest $250 million in India’s beverage industry over the next two to three years.

Apart from this, Maharashtra, Uttar Pradesh, Telangana and other South Indian states are attracting investment in WEF. On the first day of the conference, Maharashtra secured investment agreements worth Rs 6,25,457 crore, a historic milestone. This large investment has been promised to create more than 92,000 jobs in many sectors, including defence, renewable energy, steel, infrastructure, among others.

The Government of Telangana and Megha Engineering and Infrastructure Limited (MEIL) have signed three important MoUs (MoUs) totaling Rs.15000 crore. MEIL will invest Rs 11,000 crore in this landmark project, which is expected to create over 1,000 jobs during the construction phase and an additional 250 jobs during its operational phase.
Andhra Pradesh has also secured a major investment of Rs 1.4 lakh crore from ArcelorMittal/Nippon Steel for a 17.8 million tonne integrated steel project at Anakapalli. The annual meeting of the World Economic Forum in Davos is held from 20 to 24 January. In this meeting, stalwarts of government, business and civic forums come together and decide the agenda for the next one year. They consider how leaders can make the world a better place for everyone. Davos 2025 is being organized under the theme ‘Cooperation for the Intelligent Age’.
