Voting in one phase in Maharashtra and two phases in Jharkhand, results on 23 November
New Delhi| The Election Commission of India (ECI) announced the dates of assembly elections in Maharashtra and Jharkhand. Elections for 288 assembly seats in Maharashtra will be held in one phase on 20 November, while counting of votes will take place on 23 November.
At the same time, elections will be held in Jharkhand in two phases. Chief Election Commissioner Rajeev Kumar said, “Voting will be held in two phases for 81 assembly seats of Jharkhand”. Voting will take place on November 13 for the first phase and on November 20 for the second phase, while the results will be declared on November 23
According to the Election Commission of India, more than one lakh polling stations will be set up for the assembly elections in Maharashtra. The Chief Election Commissioner said that the ECI is committed to ensuring a smooth voting experience through inclusive and accessible elections in both the states.
Rajiv Kumar informed that 9.63 crore voters will vote in the Maharashtra Assembly elections, of which 4.97 crore are male voters, while 4.66 crore are female voters. Apart from this, 1.85 crore young voters are between 20 and 29 years of age. At the same time, 20.93 lakh voters will participate in the voting for the first time. 12.43 lakh voters are over 85 years of age. With this, the number of transgender voters is 6,031.
Chief Election Commissioner Rajeev Kumar said, “The total number of voters in Jharkhand is 2.6 crore, out of which 1.31 crore are male and 1.29 crore are female voters”. The number of first-time voters is 11.84 lakh. Jharkhand has 1,00,186 polling stations, this time there will be 29,562 polling stations.
Along with this, Chief Election Commissioner Rajiv Kumar has also announced the dates of by-elections. He informed that by-elections are to be held on 48 assembly seats and two parliamentary seats in 15 states.
