Vice President Radhakrishnan attends inaugural day of Morari Bapu’s Ram Katha in New Delhi
Vice President C. P. Radhakrishnan on Saturday attended the inaugural day of the nine-day Ram Katha by renowned spiritual leader Pujya Morari Bapu at Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi, where he highlighted the enduring relevance of Ram Katha in transmitting timeless values of Dharma, compassion and humanity.
Addressing the gathering, the Vice-President described Ram Katha as a living and profound medium that goes beyond the narration of a sacred epic, serving as a guide for moral living rooted in India’s civilisational ethos. He said the life and ideals of Prabhu Shri Ram continue to inspire people to live with dignity, discipline, devotion and compassion, and act as a guiding light for Dharma, the righteous way of life.
Paying tribute to Morari Bapu, V-P Radhakrishnan lauded his decades-long contribution to spreading the Ram Katha tradition across India and the world. He said Morari Bapu has played a significant role in awakening human consciousness and reinforcing universal values of love, service and righteousness. The Vice-President expressed admiration on learning that the ongoing narration marks Morari Bapu’s 971st Ram Katha.
Referring to the Dhwajarohan ceremony at Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Mandir in Ayodhya held on November 25, 2025, the Vice-President said the event symbolised the unwavering faith, patience and centuries-old devotion of millions of devotees. He underlined that while challenges may arise, Dharma can never be destroyed and truth and righteousness ultimately prevail. He added that Bhagwan Shri Ram resides not only in temples but in the very soul of India.
Highlighting the universal appeal of the Ramayana, V-P Radhakrishnan noted that the life and ideals of Prabhu Shri Ram are reflected across cultures and languages, from Valmiki’s Sanskrit Ramayana and Tulsidas’s Ramcharitmanas to Kamban’s Ramayanam in Tamil and several other renditions worldwide. He said that despite linguistic diversity, the core essence of Dharma remains the same, uniting traditions through shared values.

The Vice-President also spoke about India’s ancient scriptures, saying they consistently emphasise world peace, harmony, coexistence and balance. He referred to texts such as the Ramcharitmanas, the Bhagavad Gita, the Adi Purana and the Jain Agamas as enduring sources of spiritual and philosophical wisdom.
Calling upon devotees to participate in the nine-day Ram Katha as seekers rather than mere listeners, V-P Radhakrishnan said that even adopting a small part of Lord Ram’s ideals in daily life could bring about meaningful spiritual transformation. He commended the organisers and volunteers for their efforts in hosting the event, noting that such spiritual gatherings strengthen faith, social harmony and cultural continuity.
Concluding his address, the Vice-President expressed hope that the Ram Katha would fill hearts with peace, minds with clarity and lives with purpose. The event was also attended by former President Ram Nath Kovind, Founder of Ahimsa Vishwa Bharti and World Peace Centre Acharya Lokesh, and other distinguished guests.
