Lucknow| Under the leadership of UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, the state government has taken many big and important steps to take tourism to new heights. The main objective of these efforts is to increase the number of tourists in the state, strengthen the local economy and increase employment opportunities. The government believes that the efforts being made in the tourism sector will strengthen the state towards making it one of the leading tourist destinations in the country. Also, the rich cultural heritage of the state will get recognition at the world level. The biggest focus is to solve the problems related to stay of tourists.

The special emphasis of the Yogi government is on improving the accommodation facilities for tourists in the state. In view of the shortage of hotels in the state, the government has made the rules more favorable for the construction of new hotels. At present there are 30 rooms of hotels per lakh population in Uttar Pradesh, while the national average is around 180 rooms per lakh. To bridge this gap, Yogi government has approved new policies for the construction of hotels. Under this, the State Housing Development Department has issued official orders, which will encourage investors and promote hotel construction in the state. Establishment of new hotels will not only solve the problem of tourist accommodation but will also benefit local businessmen and small entrepreneurs.

The tourism sector of Uttar Pradesh has seen considerable improvement in the last few years. Between 2020-21 and 2023-24, the tourism sector has registered a growth of 44.9%. In view of this increasing trend, the government has set a target of further 19.2% growth from 2023-24 to 2024-25. For this, the state government has laid emphasis on the development of many tourist places, which will give global recognition to the rich cultural heritage of the state.

Yogi government has prepared comprehensive schemes to make the important tourist places of the state more attractive. Tourism master plan has been prepared for famous places like Naimisharanya and Prayagraj. Detailed Project Reports (DPRs) under these schemes have been approved and the process of selection of various agencies for implementation of the projects has also been initiated.

Apart from this, action plans are also being made for the development of six other major tourism circuits of the state. To improve the structure and facilities of these circuits, the government has started the process of appointing expert agencies for gap analysis. The objective of these efforts is to further improve the experience of tourists, thereby motivating them to visit Uttar Pradesh again and again.

These efforts of the government to promote the tourism sector will not only increase the number of tourists in the state, but will also create employment opportunities for the local people. Implementation of new hotel projects, development of tourist places and other schemes will strengthen the economy of the state. Along with this, local handicrafts, food products and cultural activities will also get a boost.
