To make foreign travel accessible, the government launched e-Migrate portal and mobile app

New Delhi| So that the citizens of the country can enjoy safe foreign travel, the Government of India launched the revised e-Migrate portal and mobile app. This initiative of the government aims to ease the movement of Indian workers abroad while ensuring their safety and well-being. On this occasion, Foreign Minister S. Jaishankar also highlighted the commitment of the Government of India to make life easier and promote people-centric governance.

“Last year, the Ministry of External Affairs had issued a campaign to raise awareness about safe and legal movement channels”, he said. During the campaign, Prime Minister Narendra Modi had released a postage stamp based on the motto ‘Go Safe, Go Trained’. Today’s program reflects the same spirit of the Prime Minister”.

He described the new e-Migrate portal V2.0 as an important step to make “safe, transparent and inclusive commuting” for Indian workers abroad. This portal is in line with Goal 10 of Agenda 2030, created for the sustainable development of the country. Through this, work has been done to promote orderly, safe and regular migration. Foreign Minister S. Giving information about this portal in this program, Jaishankar said that the new platform is more than just a digital tool.

“This tool is a beacon of hope, it symbolizes our commitment to protecting the rights and dignity of our workers on foreign soil”, he said. He also emphasized that India’s migrant workers make a huge contribution to the country’s economy and global prestige, but they often face problems abroad. The new platform aims to address these challenges. “The new portal includes a 24/7 multilingual helpline for the then issues of our people as well as a feedback mechanism to redress this”, Jaishankar said.

The updated e-Migrate portal V2.0 has also been linked with DigiLocker, allowing migrants to submit important documents such as passports and employment contracts in paper less format and to obtain and collect them securely.
