Stock market falls; Sensex-Nifty slipped in early trade, rupee recovered against dollar

New Delhi| The decline in the domestic stock market continues. This sequence continued on Friday also. Sensex fell 87.32 points to 77,970.84 in early trade, while Nifty fell 32.6 points to 23,570.75. Similarly, the rupee rose 16 paise from its all-time low to 87.43 per dollar in early trade. Foreign institutional investors (FIIs) were sold on Thursday and sold shares worth Rs 3,549.95 crore, according to stock market data.
Rupee recovered from low level
The rupee recovered from its low in early trade on Friday to strengthen by 16 paise to reach 87.43 per dollar ahead of the Reserve Bank of India’s (RBI) monetary policy announcement. In the interbank foreign exchange market, the rupee opened at 87.57 against the dollar and peaked at 87.43 against the dollar in early trade, representing a gain of 16 paise over the previous closing price. The rupee had fallen 16 paise on Thursday to close at its all-time low of 87.59 against the US dollar.
