Smog blanket over NCR, mercury drop, average AQI in Delhi 349

New Delhi| A lot of changes are being seen in the weather of Delhi NCR since Tuesday morning. A blanket of fog has covered the entire NCR. Due to smog, there has been a decline in mercury and people are also feeling cold in the morning. According to the Meteorological Department, the weather will remain same for the coming few days and people will have to face the double blow of smog and pollution.
Dense sheets of smog were seen in Delhi, Noida and Ghaziabad in the morning. The minimum temperature in the last 24 hours was 17.0 °C today and 17.9 °C yesterday morning with a drop of 0.9 °C. The Meteorological Department believes that due to fog for some time of the day and sunlight being switched off, the maximum temperature may drop.
Now people may have to face the double blow of increasing pollution along with smog. According to the Central Pollution and Control Board (CPCB), the average air quality index in the capital Delhi remains at 349 points till 6 am on Wednesday. While 276 remains in Ghaziabad, 289 in Greater Noida and 269 in Noida. Aya Nagar in Delhi has the highest AQI of 406 at present. According to the Meteorological Department, the AQI level remains above 300 and between 400 as of 6 am in most areas of the capital Delhi.
