“River Front” to free the city from traffic jams during Mahakumbh

Prayagraj| Yogi government is taking many new steps to give a divine, grand and new form to the Mahakumbh being organized in Prayagraj. The construction of river front along the banks of Ganga is also part of this, the construction work of which is going on at a fast pace and it will be opened for traffic by 15th November.

The administration estimates more than 40 crore tourists and devotees to attend the Mahakumbh which is going to be held in Prayagraj. To ease their movement, while on one hand the work of widening the roads inside and outside the city is going on at a fast pace, on the other hand another option of transportation is also being prepared on the banks of Ganga. Devotees are going to get great convenience with the construction of river front on the banks of river Ganga.

Additional Kumbh Mela officer Vivek Chaturvedi says that on the lines of Mumbai’s Marine Drive, about 15.25 km of road is being constructed along the banks of Ganga in Prayagraj also. It is being constructed at a cost of 213 crores. At present, 70 percent of its construction work has been completed. It will be ready before November 15. River front will prove helpful in organizing the crowd in Kumbh area. It is being constructed with the help of Irrigation Department and other allied departments.

According to Ramesh Kumar Singh, Senior Engineer of the Irrigation Department, the construction of this river front being built on both the banks of river Ganga for the convenience of the devotees in Kumbh area is completely different from the normal roads. It is being constructed from interlocking, boulder crates, in which slope pitching work will also be done. This road will be developed as an ideal road. A bench will be installed on its side. Selfie points will also be constructed at many places. This river front being built on the banks of river Ganga is being constructed in many areas.

Among these, construction work is currently going on from Rasulabad Ghat to Nagwasuki Temple, from Surdas to Chhatnag, till Mahavir Puri near Curzon Bridge. Once the river front is constructed, the distance to the confluence will be reduced. Along with this, tourists will get convenience.
