RBI: NCAER DG Poonam Gupta appointed Deputy Governor of RBI

New Delhi| The Reserve Bank of India appointed former World Bank economist Poonam Gupta as Deputy Governor.Gupta has been appointed ahead of its Monetary Policy Committee meeting to be held between April 7-9, 2025. This meeting takes place every two months. Gupta will hold this post for a period of three years. Gupta currently serves as the Director General of NCAER (National Council of Applied Economic Research).
Gupta is also a member of the Prime Minister’s Economic Advisory Council and serves as the convener of the Salakar Parishad for the 16th Finance Commission. Gupta was associated with NCAER in the year 2021. For two decades before this, Gupta had worked in important positions in Washington for the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the World Bank.
