Commerce Minister Piyush Goyal on Wednesday highlighted Rajasthan’s ongoing economic expansion and urged the global Rajasthani community to act as ambassadors for the state.

Speaking at the first Pravasi Rajasthani Divas in Jaipur, Goyal said that out of the ₹35 lakh crore worth of MoUs signed during the Rising Rajasthan summit, one-fourth have already moved into the implementation stage. “Over 1 crore Rajasthani expatriates live worldwide. If each contributes, Rajasthan can emerge as the country’s top-performing state,” he said.

The event was inaugurated by Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma and marks a major step in the state’s engagement with its overseas community. Senior industrialists from India and abroad are attending the gathering, where the Rajasthan government is set to sign MoUs worth ₹1 lakh crore across various sectors.

Goyal praised the coordination between the state and the Centre and credited Sharma for governance driven by new ideas and administrative reforms.

State Industries Minister Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore said Rajasthan has developed 37 industrial areas and around 2,000 industrial plots. He said the government will introduce 13 new policies intended to improve ease of doing business and attract new investments.

During the session, Vedanta Group Chairman Anil Agarwal announced plans to develop a 200-industry park in Rajasthan. He said the park will offer uninterrupted access to power, water, land and raw materials.

More than 8,000 people have registered for the event at JECC, with around 1,000 participants attending the inaugural session. To ensure smooth coordination, 50 Rajasthan Administrative Services officers have been assigned protocol duties.

The programme includes the screening of a film on Rajasthan’s connection with its global diaspora, along with sector-specific sessions on renewable energy, tourism, education, industry, health, water and mining. An open house is scheduled for the evening, followed by the unveiling of the state’s Vision 2047 inside the ‘Progress Path Hall’, designed with elements inspired by stepwells, havelis and the state’s renewable energy achievements.
