PM Narendra Modi held a bilateral meeting with the Crown Prince of Kuwait, important issues discussed

New Delhi| Prime Minister Narendra Modi met Kuwait’s Crown Prince Sheikh Sabah Khalid al-Hamad al-Sabah after addressing the Indian people in New York on Sunday. The two leaders discussed ways to further strengthen the historical ties and people-to-people contacts between India and Kuwait.

“The conversation with Crown Prince of Kuwait Sheikh Sabah Khalid al-Hamad al-Sabah was very useful”, PM Modi said in a post on social media platform X. We discussed further strengthening India-Kuwait relations in pharma, food processing, technology, energy and other sectors.

“Prime Minister Narendra Modi today met Crown Prince of Kuwait Sheikh Sabah Khalid al-Hamad al-Mubarak al-Sabah on the sidelines of the UNGA”, External Affairs Ministry spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said in a post on X. The two leaders reviewed India-Kuwait bilateral relations and discussed ways to further strengthen our historic ties and strong people-to-people contacts. The leaders expressed satisfaction that India and Kuwait are supporting each other regarding energy and food security needs.

“They expressed their strong commitment to deepen and diversify bilateral relations for the mutual benefit of both the countries”, the Ministry of External Affairs said. PM Modi thanked the Crown Prince for ensuring the well-being of the Indian community in Kuwait. He said the meeting between the leaderships of the two countries is expected to give new impetus to bilateral relations between India and Kuwait.

According to the Ministry of External Affairs, India and Kuwait have very old and friendly relations. These relations are rooted in history and are becoming stronger with time. India has been Kuwait’s natural trading partner and the Indian Rupee was legal tender in Kuwait until 1961. The two countries have had diplomatic relations for over 60 years.
