PM Modi to visit Karnataka and Goa today; will attend major events and unveil 77-ft statue of Shri Ram
Prime Minister Narendra Modi will today visit Karnataka and Goa to participate in a series of events.
According to the Prime Minister’s Office, the visit will begin in Udupi, where the PM will arrive at Sri Krishna Matha around 11:30 am.
The Prime Minister will take part in the Laksha Kantha Gita Parayana, a massive devotional gathering of one lakh participants — including students, monks, scholars and devotees — who will collectively chant the Srimad Bhagavad Gita.
He will also inaugurate the Suvarna Teertha Mantapa located in front of the Krishna sanctum. In addition, he will dedicate the newly crafted Kanaka Kavacha, a golden cover for the revered Kanakana Kindi, the sacred window through which saint Kanakadasa is believed to have received the divine darshan of Lord Krishna.
Sri Krishna Matha in Udupi was established over 800 years ago by Sri Madhvacharya, the proponent of the Dvaita Vedanta tradition.
In the afternoon, the Prime Minister will travel to Goa to attend the Sardha Panchashatamanotsava, marking the 550th year of Shree Samsthan Gokarn Partagali Jeevottam Math.
At the Math located in Canacona, South Goa, PM Modi will unveil a 77-feet bronze statue of Prabhu Shri Ram and inaugurate the newly developed Ramayana Theme Park Garden.
He will also release a special postal stamp and a commemorative coin to mark the occasion and address the gathering.
Shree Samsthan Gokarn Partagali Jeevottam Math is regarded as the first Gowd Saraswat Brahmin Vaishnava Math and follows the Dvaita tradition established by Jagadguru Madhvacharya in the 13th century. The Math is headquartered at Partagali on the banks of the river Kushavati.
