PM Modi to inaugurate ₹11,000-crore highway projects in Delhi today

Prime Minister Narendra Modi today will inaugurate two major highway projects worth nearly ₹11,000 crore in Delhi. The inauguration will take place in Rohini at around 12:30 pm, where the Prime Minister is also scheduled to address a public gathering.

The projects include the Delhi section of the Dwarka Expressway and the Urban Extension Road-II (UER-II). Developed under the government’s plan to decongest the national capital, both projects aim to improve connectivity, reduce travel time, and ease traffic flow in Delhi and surrounding areas.

The 10.1 km Delhi stretch of the Dwarka Expressway, constructed at a cost of about ₹5,360 crore, will provide multi-modal connectivity to Yashobhoomi, the DMRC Blue and Orange lines, the upcoming Bijwasan railway station, and the Dwarka cluster bus depot. The section has two packages—5.9 km from the Shiv Murti intersection to the Dwarka Sector-21 Road Under Bridge, and 4.2 km from the Dwarka Sector-21 RUB to the Delhi-Haryana border, linking directly with UER-II. The Haryana section of the expressway was inaugurated by the Prime Minister in March 2024.

In addition, the Prime Minister will inaugurate the Alipur to Dichaon Kalan stretch of UER-II, along with new link roads to Bahadurgarh and Sonipat. Built at a cost of approximately ₹5,580 crore, the project is expected to ease congestion on Delhi’s Inner and Outer Ring Roads and critical points such as Mukarba Chowk, Dhaula Kuan, and NH-09. The new spurs will provide direct connectivity to Bahadurgarh and Sonipat, strengthen industrial linkages, decongest city roads, and accelerate goods movement in the National Capital Region.
