New Delhi| Prime Minister Narendra Modi has expressed deep condolences on the demise of Ratan Tata, former chairman of Tata Group and a prominent personality of the industry. PM Modi spoke to Ratan Tata’s brother Noel Tata on Thursday and expressed condolences before leaving for Laos to attend the 21st ASEAN-India Summit and the 19th East Asia Summit.

Prime Minister Modi appreciated the contribution of Ratan Tata and the direction given by him to Indian industry. According to the information, Union Home Minister Amit Shah will participate in the funeral of Ratan Tata on behalf of the Government of India. The mortal remains of Ratan Tata, 86, will be kept at the National Centre for Performing Arts in South Mumbai today for a last glimpse of the people and then cremated.

Ratan Tata breathed his last at Breach Candy Hospital, where he was admitted on Monday due to some age-related health problems. There has been a wave of mourning in the entire industry due to the demise of Tata. Condolences are being expressed to his family, colleagues and all those who knew him closely and worked with him.

Earlier, Prime Minister Modi had expressed grief over the demise of Tata Sons Honorary Chairman Ratan Tata in a post on X. Prime Minister Narendra Modi had described Ratan Tata as ‘a visionary business leader, a kind soul and an extraordinary human being’. Veterans from politics, industry and film industry have expressed grief over the demise of Ratan Tata. Many stalwarts including PM Modi, Defense Minister Rajnath Singh, industrialist Gautam Adani, Anand Mahindra have described Tata’s demise as a big loss.

The mortal remains of Ratan Tata will be taken to the NCPA lawn at around 10.30 am, so that people can pay their last respects to the departed soul. At around 4 pm, Ratan Tata’s body will leave Nariman Point on a final journey towards Worli Cremation Prayer Hall for the last rites. The family said that the mortal remains wrapped in the national flag will be given a police gun salute at the cremation ground and then the last rites will be performed.

Indian industrialist and Honorary Chairman of Tata Sons Ratan Naval Tata, who was ill for some time, died on Wednesday. On Monday he was admitted to the hospital for treatment. Giving information about his demise, Tata Sons Chairman N Chandrasekaran had said that we sadly inform that Ratan Tata is no more.
