PM Modi Podcast: ‘AI is powerful, but cannot replace human imagination’- PM Modi

New Delhi| Prime Minister Narendra Modi spoke in detail about artificial intelligence (AI) and India’s role in it. Speaking in a podcast, PM Modi said that artificial intelligence is powerful, but it will never be able to match the scope of human thinking. AI can never replace human imagination. He said that no matter what the world does with AI, it will remain incomplete without India. In a podcast with Lex Friedman on Sunday, PM Modi said that without real human intelligence, artificial intelligence (AI) cannot develop or progress permanently.
The Prime Minister said, it is true that an environment of competition has been created between technology and humanity in every era. At times it was also shown and described as a struggle. It was often said that as technology would challenge human existence itself, every time as technology progressed, man adapted himself to it and remained one step ahead. This has always been the case. After all it is human beings who find the best ways to use technology to their advantage
PM Modi also said that he believes that with AI humans are now being forced to think about what it means to be human. He said, ‘This is the real power of AI. AI has challenged the way we view our work because of the way it works, but human imagination is the fuel. AI can build many things based on this and achieve even more in the future. Yet I firmly believe that no technology can replace the boundless creativity and imagination of the human brain
Describing the development of AI as basically a collaboration, the Prime Minister expressed confidence that it will remain incomplete without India. He said, ‘No matter what the world does with AI, it will remain incomplete without India. I am saying this very responsibly. I believe that the development of AI is basically collaboration. All involved support one another through shared experiences and learning.
PM Modi said India is not just developing theoretical AI models, but is also actively working on and implementing AI-powered applications for very specific use cases to ensure that To ensure that access to Graphics Processing Units (GPUs) is available to every section of the society.
“We have already created a unique market-based model to ensure its wide reach”, he said. There is a significant change in mindset in India, although we appear to be lagging behind others due to historical influences, traditional government processes or lack of strong supporting infrastructure’
Prime Minister Modi gave the example of 5 G, saying that initially the world thought we were far behind, but once we started we became the country to start the fastest comprehensive 5 G network in the world.
He said that recently officials of an American company came to meet me and shared their experiences about this fact. He told me that if I advertised for engineers in America, I would only get applicants to fill a room. But if I do the same in India, even a football field will not be enough to keep them. PM Modi said, ‘This shows that India has an exceptionally huge talent pool and this is our biggest strength.’
He emphasized that artificial intelligence is essentially driven, created and directed by human intelligence. The Prime Minister said, ‘Without real human intelligence, AI cannot develop or progress sustainably. Real intelligence is abundant in India’s youth and talents and I believe it is our greatest strength He said that humans have an innate ability to take care of each other, a natural tendency to be worried about each other. Now, can anyone tell me if AI is capable of doing this?
