PM Modi pays tribute to Babu Jagjivan Ram on his birth anniversary

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday paid tributes to Babu Jagjivan Ram on his birth anniversary, remembering his lifelong commitment to equality and social justice.

In a post on X, the Prime Minister said, “Humble salutations to former Deputy Prime Minister Babu Jagjivan Ram Ji on his birth anniversary. He dedicated his life to equality and social justice. His invaluable contribution to the nation will always be remembered.”

Born on April 5, 1908, Jagjivan Ram was a prominent leader, freedom fighter, and statesman. His birth anniversary is observed as Samata Diwas in several parts of the country.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah described him as a pioneer of social justice, highlighting his contributions to the freedom struggle and his efforts to uplift weaker sections of society.

HM Shah said, “On the birth anniversary of Babu Jagjivan Ram Ji, the pioneer of social justice, I offer my humble tribute. Babu Jagjivan Ji dedicated his entire life to national service and social justice. He made unprecedented contributions to the freedom struggle and steadfastly confronted divisive forces while opposing religious conversion. His struggle for the rights of the weaker and deprived sections of society will continue to inspire us forever.”

Union Health Minister J. P. Nadda also paid homage, calling Babu Jagjivan Ram a visionary leader who worked tirelessly for the welfare of the poor and marginalised.

Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh recalled Babu Jagjivan Ram’s dual role in strengthening social justice and national defence, stating that his contributions to nation-building would always be remembered.
