PM Modi met the leadership team of Tata Sons-PSMC, discussed semiconductor production project

New Delhi| Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday met the leadership team of Tata Sons and Taiwan-based Powerchip Semiconductor Manufacturing Corporation (PSMC). PSMC expressed enthusiasm for its expansion in India. PM Modi expressed happiness of meeting both the companies on social media platform X. He discussed with both the companies the update of semiconductor production project in India.
Posting on social media platform X, PM Modi said, “It was nice to meet the leadership team of Tata Sons and PSMC”. He shared updates of his semiconductor production project. PSMC is very excited about its expansion in India
Earlier, the Government of India had approved a proposal by Tata Electronics to build a Mega Semiconductor Fabrication Facility (FAB) at Dholera, Gujarat as a partner with PSMC. It will create 20,000 jobs in the region with a total investment of 91,000 crore.
With this announcement, Tata Electronics entered the global semiconductor industry. Tata Sons Pvt Ltd, as a partner with PSMC, is building the first AI-enabled state-of-the-art fab in India. Let us tell you that in view of the increasing demand for automotive, computing and data storage, wireless communication and artificial intelligence, the new semiconductor fab will manufacture chips for applications like power management IC, display driver, microcontroller (MCU) and high-performance computing logic.
