PM Modi holds a roundtable meeting with CEOs of tech companies, Google chief Sundar Pichai also attended

New Delhi| Prime Minister Narendra Modi, during his visit to the US, participated in a roundtable meeting with CEOs of US tech companies, where he emphasized India’s growth prospects and discussed initiatives to promote bilateral cooperation in various sectors. The meeting took place at the Lotte New York Palace Hotel on Sunday during the second leg of Modi’s three-day US visit. It was attended by CEOs of 15 major US firms working on cutting-edge technologies such as AI, quantum computing and semiconductors.

PM Modi said in a post on social media platform X – ,A fruitful roundtable meeting was held with technology CEOs in New York, in which aspects related to tech, innovation and others were discussed. Also highlighted the progress made by India in this area. I am happy to see immense optimism towards India. According to the Ministry of External Affairs, during the conference, Modi said that efforts like technology cooperation and the Initiative on Critical and Emerging Technologies (ICET) are at the core of the India-US Comprehensive Global Strategic Partnership. The Prime Minister stressed that in its third term, India will make every possible effort to become the world’s third largest economy and encouraged companies to take advantage of India’s growth story for collaboration and innovation.’

Hosted by the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) School of Engineering, the conference featured CEOs of top U.S. tech firms including Google CEO Pichai, Adobe CEO Shantanu Narayan, Accenture CEO Julie Sweet, and NVIDIA CEO Jensen Huang. Others who attended the roundtable included Lisa Su, CEO of AMD, HP Inc. CEO of Enrique Lores, IBM CEO Arvind Krishna, Moderna Chairman Dr. Nubar Afyan and Verizon CEO Hans Westberg. Assuring business leaders of India’s deep commitment to protecting intellectual property and promoting technological innovation, Modi highlighted the economic transformation taking place in the country.

Modi stressed that his government is committed to making India a global hub of semiconductor manufacturing. He also talked about India’s BIO E3 (Biotechnology for Environment, Economy and Employment) policy to develop the country as a biotechnology superpower and on the subject of AI said that India’s policy is to promote AI for all, based on its ethical and responsible use. The CEO appreciated India’s growing prominence as a global technology hub, driven by its innovation-friendly policies and thriving market opportunities. He also expressed keen interest in investing and collaborating with India, agreeing that investing in startups will be a synergistic opportunity to innovate and develop new technologies in the country.

Others attending the conference included Chris Weihbacher, CEO of Biogen Inc, Chris Boerner, CEO of Bristol Myers Squibb, David A., CEO of Eli Lilly & Company. Ricks, LAM Research CEO Tim Archer, GlobalFoundries CEO Thomas Caulfield and Kindrill CEO Martin Schroeter. Earlier, Modi addressed the Indian diaspora at the packed Nassau Veterans Coliseum in Long Island, New York. He also held bilateral meetings with world leaders during the United Nations General Assembly session here.
