PM Modi held bilateral meetings with the Prime Ministers of Japan and New Zealand

New Delhi| Prime Minister Narendra Modi attended the 21st ASEAN-India and East Asia Summit on Thursday. During this, he met the heads of state of many countries. He has also shared some pictures of these meetings on his X account. While sharing the pictures, PM Modi wrote, “India-ASEAN summit was meaningful”. We discussed further strengthening the comprehensive strategic partnership between India and ASEAN. We look forward to strengthening cooperation in trade relations, cultural relations and technology, connectivity and other such areas

During this, PM Modi held a bilateral meeting with Japanese Prime Minister Shigeru Ishiba. In another X post, PM Modi wrote, “Had a very meaningful meeting with Prime Minister Ishiba. I am happy to meet him just a few days after becoming the Prime Minister of Japan. Our talks discussed ways to enhance cooperation in infrastructure, connectivity, defense and other sectors. Along with this, there was also discussion on promoting cultural relations.”

The Prime Minister also held a bilateral meeting with New Zealand PM Christopher Luxon. While sharing pictures with Christopher, he wrote, “Had a wonderful meeting with the Prime Minister of New Zealand. We value our friendship with New Zealand, which is bound by a commitment to democracy, freedom and the rule of law. Our talks covered areas such as economic cooperation, tourism, education and innovation.”

Earlier, while addressing the ASEAN-India Summit, PM Modi said that thank you very much for all your valuable ideas and suggestions. We are committed to strengthening the comprehensive strategic partnership between India and ASEAN. I am confident that together we will continue to strive for human well-being, regional peace, stability and prosperity. We will also continue to take steps to strengthen economic, digital, cultural and spiritual connectivity.

He further said, “I believe that the 21st century ‘Asian Century’ is the century of India and ASEAN countries”. Today, when there is a situation of conflict and tension in many parts of the world, the friendship, coordination, dialogue and cooperation between India and ASEAN is very important.
